What We Collect

When Travel Buddy is added to a WhatsApp group, it reads messages in that group to extract travel-related information such as flight details, hotel bookings, activities, and logistics.

We collect and store:

• Messages identified as trip-relevant (not casual conversation)
• Extracted trip data: flights, hotels, activities, dates, and traveler names
• Images shared in the group (processed for booking details, then the image is deleted)
• Phone numbers of group participants (for message delivery only)

What We Don't Collect

• Messages classified as casual conversation or banter
• Messages from groups Travel Buddy has not been invited to
• Contacts, photos, or media unrelated to travel planning
• Location data from your device

How We Use Your Data

Your trip data is used solely to:

• Build and maintain your trip itinerary
• Answer questions about your trip
• Send proactive alerts (flight delays, check-in reminders)

We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising. We do not train AI models on your messages.

Data Storage & Security

Trip data is stored securely and encrypted at rest. Messages are processed by GPT-4.1 (via GitHub Copilot) for data extraction — these requests are not stored by the AI provider for training purposes.

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of all your trip data at any time by messaging Travel Buddy with "delete my data" or by contacting us at [email protected]. Trip data is automatically deleted 30 days after the trip end date.
